Walking under a baton arch as she is introduced as one of the top NBTA dignitaries at the National Baton Twirling Championships Awards Show on Saturday at Notre Dame University, Phillip J. Purcell Arena, South Bend, Ind., is Major Joanne Schlueter from Iroquois. Schlueter spent last week on the Notre Dame campus with family members as she is a member of the World Baton Twirling Federation Team organizing the competitions to determine the individuals and groups who will represent the USA at the World Baton Twirling Championships in Torino, Italy, in August 2025. Her sister, Rita Anderson, is also a part of this team and was an official judge at the week-long baton championships.
